Airline ticket from Houston to Kansas City for Celia Fulkerson on Wednesday, Sept. 4, 1946. The Braniff Airways flight — just $41.11 — left Houston at 4:10 p.m. and, based on letters Celia wrote to her parents, was to be in Kansas City by 9:30 p.m. The last two pages were an insurance policy.

This and the next five posts (0091-0086) are from a trip Celia, Dorothy “Dot” Hogg and Grimes Spillman took from Missouri to Texas. Grimes was in the Merchant Marines, but was not assigned duty and could go to a port and sign on to a ship. He said he usually chose to sail tankers, usually from Houston or Galveston, Texas. This was one of those trips; Grimes had bought a Mercury convertible to drive to Texas, intending to sell it there. Celia and Dot went along and flew back to Missouri.
